We are very pleased to inform you of the ELEVENTH INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON SOUND AND VIBRATION (ICSV11) to be held 5-8 July 2004, in St. Petersburg, Russia at the four star Hotel Pribaltiyskaya. ICSV11 participants will be able to take part in a congress with a first rate scientific programme, and also experience first hand the considerable cultural attractions of St. Petersburg and the many sites of historical and general interest in and around the city. St. Petersburg was the former capital of imperial Russia and the home of its czars. The city has many splendid architectural treasures, theatres and art museums and of course the world famous Hermitage. The city has recently undergone an extensive renovation in celebration of its 300th anniversary this year.

The Eleventh Congress is sponsored by the IIAV (the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration) and the Noise and Vibration Control Society (NVCS) of Russia in cooperation with the Russian Acoustical Society (RAS), the East-European Acoustical Association (EEAA) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME International).

We shall be very pleased if you can present a paper at the Eleventh Congress on Acoustics or Vibration. Please see the list of topics covered in the scientific program on the ICSV11 website, which can be found under (http://www.iiav.org) by clicking "Congresses," then "Eleventh Congress, St. Petersburg, Russia, 2004".

The information on the ICSV11 website will be updated periodically.

The IIAV is an international scientific society affiliated to the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. The IIAV - with a membership of 500 in 55 countries - was founded in 1995 and is supported by 30 national and international scientific societies and organizations. IIAV members receive the quarterly refereed journal, the International Journal of Acoustics and Vibration, IJAV, the bi-annual electronic digest, the International Sound & Vibration Digest, ISVD, and can attend the annual ICSV Congresses at a reduced registration fee. Should you also wish to become an IIAV member, please fill in the IIAV membership application form at the end of this message or on the IIAV website at http://www.iiav.org

The IIAV officers and directors and we also hope very much that you will be able to attend the Eleventh Congress on Sound and Vibration and present a paper and also that you may wish to become an IIAV member. We look forward to seeing you in St. Petersburg in July 2004.
